BACHELOR OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND LINGUISTICS


Programme Overview

Produce graduates who master language and linguistics, especially in the field of English, capable and competitive in their careers, responsible for society with ethical values, capable of leading, critical thinking, skilled in information management, and able to contribute to the surrounding community. Students are awarded the Bachelor of English Language and Linguistics, upon completion of a total of 127 credits of study.

  • Have teaching experience in the field of English or have served in work involving English-related matters (such as language teaching, translation, language planning, terminology management, editing, and so on) for no less than three (3) years of experience.

Additional Requirement

  • Candidates who apply for Bachelor of Electrical Engineering and Chemical Engineering must not be colour blind.
  • For Gaokao Certifications:
    • Grade B in English Language, and
    • Two (2) Grade C in any other two (2) subjects

English Language Requirements

  • Obtain a minimum of Band 4.5 in MUET for examinations starting from Session 1 of the year 2021, or Band 4.5 for examinations up to the year 2020, according to the validity period on the date of application
  • However, applicants without MUET but with the following results may be considered for conditional admission, provided they fulfill the MUET requirement within ONE (1) academic session:
    • Obtain at least Band 6 (Academic) in IELTS and a score of 6.0 in the Writing component of the IELTS; or
    • Obtain a minimum score of 78 in TOEFL iBT (Centre-based)
    • Obtain a minimum score of 57 in PTE (Academic)
  • Obtain a minimum of grade B in the English subject at the SPM/equivalent
  • Grade B or higher in English subject for Secondary Education (O-Level) or equivalent
