Programme Overview

Universiti Malaya's Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree is the country's pre-eminent law degree. Alumni have gone on to become the Prime Minister, Chief Justice, Attorney General, senior judges, partners in law firms, general counsels, directors and managers of public listed companies, senior bankers, diplomats, internationally renowned academics, officials of civic societies and others. The LLB (Hons) prepares you for a career in the law and related fields by giving you a strong working knowledge of a broad range of legal subjects. Conventionally completed over 4 academic years, you will have the opportunity for participate in overseas student exchanges, undertake placement or internships and develop your mooting and writing skills as a lawyer.


Universiti Malaya is ranked 60th best university in the world - a feat unmatched by any other university in Malaysia. Upon completion of the programme, you will be conferred Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree. The degree entitles holder to be admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya/Sabah/Sarawak after going through a period pupillage. The programme curriculum comprises both academic as well as the professional components of legal training.

English Language Requirements

  • Obtain a minimum of Band 4.0 in MUET for examinations starting from Session 1 of the year 2021, or Band 4.0 for examinations up to the year 2020, according to the validity period on the date of application
  • Applicants without MUET but with the following results may be considered for conditional admission, provided they fulfil MUET requirement within ONE (1) academic session:
    • Obtain at least Band 6.0 (Academic) in IELTS; or
    • Obtain a minimum score of 60 in TOEFL iBT (Centre-based)
