MASTER OF SCIENCE IN CROP PROTECTION


Programme Overview

Crops need to compete with more than 30,000 weed species, 10,000 different insect pests, and various diseases. About 20-40% reduction of crop yields every season due to these problems. MSc in Crop Protection is the only post graduate program in the country offering a one-year coursework program as a platform for agriculture enthusiast to explore advance knowledge in crop protection through quality education and knowledge exchange with the experts in UM.


This program has strong emphasis on theoretical agronomy with tight engagement with the industry. The industrial attachment at the end of program will give the students opportunity to apply the crop protection theories solving real live problems. MSc in Crop Protection program will prepare the graduates to exhibit expertise and skills in theory, principles and technical aspects of solving problems in crop protection using appropriate scientific methods.

General Entry Requirements

For applicants with a CGPA of not less than 3.00:
  • Possess a Bachelor’s Degree with a CGPA of not less than 3.00; or

For applicants with a CGPA of 2.50 – 2.99 (must fulfill at least one of the following):
  • Graduate from University Malaya; or
  • Accumulate at least one (1) year of work experience in related fields; or
  • Produce publications in related field; or
  • Receive a scholarship; or
  • Serve as a staff member of a government agency; or
  • Pass an interview by Faculty; or
  • Pass a Special evaluation by Faculty.
