Obstetrics and gynecology is a diverse discipline on the study of women and their medical problems. The scope of study range from general gynecological disorders, infertility, gynecological malignancies and menopause. It also include obstetrics condition such as antenatal care, medical disorders in pregnancy, prenatal diagnosis and care, intrapartum and delivery care, postpartum and contraceptive care. At the end of the successful completion of the programme, the candidate should have attained the minimum standard to be a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology.
The programme provide for opportunities to learn all the related and relevant medical, surgical and obstetric knowledge and skills needed to prevent, identify and treat a whole range of medical conditions affecting women's reproductive system and gynecological health. Besides providing clinical care using both normal and complex obstetrics and gynecology approaches, experts in this field can greatly contribute to the research and growth of this discipline.
Full-Time Duration: 8 Semesters, (Clinical)
Programme Structure
Stage 1(12 Months):
Basic Clinical Obstetrics and Gynecology Training.
Planning and Commencement of Research Project (s).
Stage 2 (36 Months):
Advance Clinical Training in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Continuous Assessment.
Satisfactory Progress from Department and Supervisor.
Log Book Maintenance:
Documentation of Cases Managed and Practical Procedures Performed.
Submission of Research Report (s) or Published Article:
Certification as Satisfactory by Assessor (s).
Submission Deadline: Not Later Than 6 Months Before Final Examination.

Part I Examination:
Pass Part I Master of Obstetrics and Gynecology Degree Before Advancing to Stage II
Elective Training:
Maximum of 6 Months Elective Training in a Relevant Discipline.
Approval Required from Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti of Malaya.

For applicants with a CGPA of 2.50 – 2.99 (must fulfill at least one of the following):
Graduate from University Malaya; or
Accumulate at least one (1) year of work experience in related fields; or
Produce publications in related field; or
Receive a scholarship; or
Serve as a staff member of a government agency; or
Pass an interview by Faculty; or
Pass a Special evaluation by Faculty.
Specific Entry Requirements
General University Requirements: Fulfill the General University Requirements
Bachelor's Degree Qualification: Possessed a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery or an equivalent medical qualification approved by the Senate.

Special Requirements:
At least one year of post-full registration clinical experience approved by the Senate.
Qualifies for registration as a medical practitioner under the Medical Act 1971 (Act 50) of Malaysia; and
Passed the entrance evaluation and successful interview.
AND
The non-Malaysian citizen applicant who obtains a degree from a university or institution of higher learning that did not use English as the medium of instruction for the degree, shall be required to meet the specified requirements.
