Programme Overview

This programme will ensure that Mathematics educators will be dynamic and are able to apply their knowledge of research and technology to solve problems related to mathematics education.


Full-Time Duration: 3 Semester , (Research)

Entry Requirement

General Entry Requirements

For applicants with a CGPA of not less than 3.00:
  • Possess a Bachelor’s Degree with a CGPA of not less than 3.00; or

For applicants with a CGPA of 2.50 – 2.99 (must fulfill at least one of the following):
  • Graduate from University Malaya; or
  • Accumulate at least one (1) year of work experience in related fields; or
  • Produce publications in related field; or
  • Receive a scholarship; or
  • Serve as a staff member of a government agency; or
  • Pass an interview conducted by Faculty; or
  • Pass a Special evaluation by Faculty.

Specific Entry Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Qualification: Possessed a Bachelor's Degree of Education or a Bachelor's Degree with Education in specific field
  • Equivalent Qualification: N/A
  • Related Fields: Science, Mathematics.
  • Special Requirements:


    • Applicants with a Bachelor of Education or Bachelor's Degree with Education (CGPA: 2.70 - 2.99)

      Must fulfill at least ONE of the following criteria:

      • UM graduate; or
      • At least two (2) years teaching experience in a related field; or
      • Professional qualification from a recognized professional body; or
      • Published in a related field; or
      • A Scholarship holder; or
      • A Government servant; or
      • Pass an interview by PTj; or
      • Pass a Special Assessment PTj; or

      OR


    • Applicants with a Bachelor of Education or Bachelor's Degree with Education (CGPA: 2.50 - 2.69)

      Must fulfill at least TWO of the following criteria:

      • UM graduate; or
      • At least Three (3) years teaching experience in a related field; or
      • Professional qualification from a recognized professional body; or
      • Published in a related field; or
      • A Scholarship holder; or
      • A Government servant; or
      • Pass an interview by PTj; or
      • Pass a Special Assessment PTj; or

      OR


    • Applicants with a Bachelor's Degree in Science or Mathematics (CGPA: ≥ 3.00)

      Must fulfill at least ONE of the following criteria:

      • Possessed a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Minimum CGPA 3.00); or
      • Teaching Qualification recognized by the university; or
      • At least one (1) year teaching experience in a related field; or
      • Professional qualification from a recognized professional body; or
      • Other qualification approved by the Senate from time to time; or

      OR


    • Applicants with a Bachelor's Degree in Science or Mathematics (CGPA: 2.70 - 2.99)

      Must fulfill at least ONE of the following criteria:

      • Possessed a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Minimum CGPA 3.00); or
