MASTER OF EDUCATION (RESEARCH)

Programme Overview

This is a programme by research, which leads to the production of a dissertation. The programme aim to produce graduates who are highly literate in research and can apply this knowledge to the area of education. The Faculty of Education offers a range of research areas for this program. The available areas of research include:

Entry Requirement

General Entry Requirements

For applicants with a CGPA of not less that 3.00:

Possess a Bachelor's Degree with a CGPA of not less than 3.00; or

For applicants with a CGPA of 2.50-2.99 (must fulfill at least one of the following):

Graduate from Universiti Malaya; or
Accumulate at least one (1) year of work experience in related fields; or
Produce publications in related field; or
Receive a scholarship; or
Serve as a staff member of a government agency; or
Pass an interview conducted by faculty; or
Pass a special evaluation by faculty.

Special Requirements:
- Applicants with a Bachelor’s Degree (Non-Education) (CGPA: ≥ 3.00)
  - Must fulfill at least ONE of the following criteria:
    1. Possessed a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Minimum CGPA 3.00); or
    2. Teaching Qualification recognized by the university; or
    3. At least two (2) years of work experience in a related field (e.g. Human Resources, Education, Malaysian Examinations Board); or
    4. Professional qualification from a recognized professional body; or
    5. Other qualifications approved by the Senate from time to time
- OR
- Applicants with a Bachelor of Education or Bachelor’s degree with Education (CGPA: 2.70 - 2.99)
  - Must fulfill at least ONE of the following criteria:
    1. UM graduate; or
    2. At least two (2) years teaching experience in a related field (Human Resources, Education, Malaysian Examinations Board); or
    3. Professional qualification from a recognized professional body; or
    4. Published in a related field; or
    5. A scholarship holder; or
    6. A Government servant; or
    7. Pass an interview by PTj; or
    8. Pass a Special Assessment by PTj.

  - Must fulfill at least TWO of the following criteria:
    1. UM graduate; or
