Programme Overview

This program will produce graduates who are dynamic, reflective and innovative through pedagogies and research in the teaching of Bahasa Malaysia.

Entry Requirement

General Entry Requirements

For applicants with a CGPA of not less than 3.00:
  • Possess a Bachelor’s Degree with a CGPA of not less than 3.00; or

For applicants with a CGPA of 2.50 – 2.99 (must fulfill at least one):
  • Graduate from University Malaya; or
  • At least 1-year work experience in related fields; or
  • Produce publications in related field; or
  • Receive a scholarship; or
  • Government staff; or
  • Pass Faculty interview; or
  • Pass Special evaluation by Faculty.

Specific Entry Requirements

  • Possessed a Bachelor’s Degree of Education or Bachelor’s Degree with Education
  • Equivalent Qualification: N/A
  • Related Fields: N/A
  • Applicants with a Bachelor’s Degree in related field (CGPA ≥ 3.00)

    Must fulfill at least ONE:

    • Possessed a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Minimum CGPA 3.00); or
    • Teaching Qualification recognized by the university; or
    • At least two (2) years of work experience in education-related fields (example: DBP, Translator, Publication Editor, Educational Institution, Teaching, Malaysian Examinations Board); or
    • Professional qualification from a recognized professional body; or
    • Other qualifications approved by the Senate from time to time.
    • OR

  • Applicants with Bachelor of Education / Bachelor’s degree with Education (CGPA 2.70 – 2.99)

    Must fulfill at least ONE:

    • UM graduate; or
    • At least two (2) years of work experience in education-related fields (example: DBP, Translator, Publication Editor, Educational Institution, Teaching, Malaysian Examinations Board); or
    • Professional qualification from a recognized professional body; or
    • Published in a related field; or
    • A scholarship holder; or
    • A Government servant; or
    • Pass an interview by PTj; or
    • Pass a Special Assessment by PTj.
    • OR

  • Applicants with Bachelor of Education / Bachelor’s degree with Education (CGPA: 2.50 – 2.69)

    Must fulfill at least TWO:

    • UM graduate; or
    • At least three (3) years of work experience in education-related fields (example: DBP, Translator, Publication Editor, Educational Institution, Teaching, Malaysian Examinations Board); or
    • Professional qualification from a recognized professional body; or
    • Published in a related field; or
    • A scholarship holder; or
    • A Government servant; or
    • Pass an interview by PTj; or
    • Pass a Special Assessment by PTj.
