Programme Overview

The programme is designed for those aspiring to hold positions requiring economic analyses and a high level of economic proficiency in business, industry and government. The programme provides its graduates with broad knowledge in a wide range of areas in economics. Students are also trained in conducting research to enhance their report writing and problem solving skills in areas related to economics necessary to be effective economic analysts.


Full-Time Duration: 2 Semesters + 1 Special Semester, (Coursework)

Entry Requirement

General Entry Requirements
For applicants with a CGPA of not less that 3.00:
  • Possess a Bachelor's Degree with a CGPA of not less than 3.00; or
For applicants with a CGPA of 2.50-2.99 (must fulfill at least one of the following):
  • Graduate from Universiti Malaya; or
  • Accumulate at least one (1) year of work experience in related fields; or
  • Produce publications in related field; or
  • Receive a scholarship; or
  • Serve as a staff member of a government agency; or
  • Pass an interview conducted by Faculty; or
  • Pass a Special evaluation by Faculty.

  2. Bachelor’s Degree Qualification: Possessed a Bachelor Degree of Economics (Honours)
  3. Equivalent Qualification: N/A
  4. Related Fields: Economics-related fields
  5. Special Requirements: 
    1. CGPA 3.3 and above.
    2. Possess sufficient knowledge in economics (microeconomics (B+) and macroeconomics (B+)) and/or quantitative-oriented fields.
    3. Passed the interview by the Faculty.
