General Entry Requirements

• Possess a Master's Degree By Research;       OR;
• Possess a Clinical Master's Degree;       OR;
• Possess a Master's Degree by Coursework or Mixed Mode with a CGPA of no less than 3.00       OR;
• Possess a Master's Degree by Coursework or Mixed Mode with a CGPA 2.50 to 2.99 subject to fulfilling at least one (1) of the following criteria:

  
  

  • At least one (1) year working experience in a related field; or
  • Publication in a related field; or
  • A Scholarship holder; or
  • UM Graduate; or
  • A Government servant; or
  • Pass an interview by Faculty; or
  • Pass a Special Assessment by Faculty
• Possess a Bachelor's Degree through the Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning for Access (APEL.A) and other qualifications approved by the Senate

Specific Entry Requirements

• General University Requirements: Fulfill the General University Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree Qualification: Possessed a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery or an equivalent medical qualification approved by the Senate
• Equivalent Qualification: N/A
• Related Fields: N/A
• Special Requirements:
  1. At least one (1) year of post-full registration clinical experience approved by the Senate
  2. Qualifies for registration as a Medical Practitioner under the Medical Act 1971 (Act 50) of Malaysia; and
  3. Pass the entrance assessment and interview and has passed MedEx or MRCS (Part 1 and 2)
  4. 6 Months minimum of General Surgery posting and 6 Months minimum of Cardiothoracic Surgery posting prior to application
  5. Candidates who are non-Malaysian citizen will be required to undertake and satisfactorily complete a three (3) months period of clinical attachment in the Department of Surgery prior to acceptance into the program. A satisfactory attachment performance evaluation is a prerequisite for entry into the program.

     The non-Malaysian citizen applicant who obtains a degree from University or institution of higher learning that did not use English as the medium of instruction of higher learning that did not use English as the medium for instruction for the degree, shall be required to meet the specified requirements.

• Cambridge English Qualifications & Tests – B1 Preliminary, B2 First, C1 Advanced, C2 Proficiency: Score 169; or
• Cambridge English Qualifications & Tests – B2 Business Vantage, C1 Business Higher: Not applicable; or
• Occupational English Test (OET) (Conventional / Online): Score 250; or
