MASTER OF BUILT ENVIRONMENT



Programme Overview

Students will have the benefits of exposure in conducting research in their particular areas of interest or specialisation and acquisition of an understanding of a body of knowledge in the respective area of specialisation. This Master's programme is purely based on individual supervised research. Candidates will be exposed to Research Methodology Course to strengthen their research knowledge. At the end of the candidate's study, a dissertation must be submitted and upon successful defence of the dissertation, the candidate will be awarded a Masters’ degree. All research proposals must be approved and supervised by the Faculty. Candidates are required to complete their studies within 8 semesters.

Entry Requirement

General Entry Requirements
  • For applicants with a CGPA of not less than 3.00:
    • Possess a Bachelor’s Degree with a CGPA of not less than 3.00; or
  • For applicants with a CGPA of 2.50 – 2.99 (must fulfill at least one of the following): 
    • Graduate from Universiti Malaya; or
    • Accumulate at least one (1) year of work experience in related fields; or
    • Produce publications in related field; or
    • Receive a scholarship; or
    • Serve as a staff member of a government agency; or
    • Pass an interview conducted by the Faculty; or
    • Pass a special evaluation by the Faculty

  • Bachelor’s Degree Qualification: Possessed a Bachelor's Degree as below :-
    • Bachelor of Real Estate; or
    • Bachelor of Science in Architecture; or
    • Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning; or
    • Bachelor of Quantity Surveying; or
    • Bachelor of Building Surveying; or
    • An equivalent qualification in a related field from a recognised university.
