Accredited by Malaysia Board of Architects (LAM) - Part II Validated by Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) - Part 2 • The UM Master of Architecture is a leading Part II programme in Malaysia which aims to produce excellent Graduate Architects who are innovative, confident and intelligent. Besides delving into architectural design projects, students are also able to pursue their interests in highly specialised elective courses; AND • Our programme is one out of only two programmes that are accredited by LAM and validated by RIBA in Malaysia.


Full-Time Duration: 4 Semesters + 1 Special Semester (Coursework)

Entry Requirement

General Entry Requirements
  • For applicants with a CGPA of not less than 3.00:
    • Possess a Bachelor’s Degree with a CGPA of not less than 3.00; or
  • For applicants with a CGPA of 2.50 – 2.99 (must fulfill at least one of the following): 
    • Graduate from Universiti Malaya; or
    • Accumulate at least one (1) year of work experience in related fields; or
    • Produce publications in related field; or
    • Receive a scholarship; or
    • Serve as a staff member of a government agency; or
    • Pass an interview conducted by the Faculty; or
    • Pass a special evaluation by the Faculty

  2. Bachelor’s Degree Qualification: Possessed a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Architecture.
  3. Equivalent Qualification: N/A
  4. Related fields: N/A 
  5. Special Requirements: 
    • UM graduateswith a Bachelor of Science in Architecture may be considered for admission if they meet the following criteria:
      1. Candidates with a CGPA of 3.00 and above; and
        1. Recognised by the Board of Architects Malaysia (LAM) Part I;
        2. Obtained an overall grade of ‘B’ and above in the Architectural Design Studio course in the final semester of the Bachelor's degree programme;
        3. Accumulate at least six (6) months of relevant work experience after the completion of the Bachelor's degree;
        4. Pass the competency interview (interview, portfolio review, and technical drawing test);     ----- or -----                                                                                           
      2. Candidates with a CGPA of 3.00 and above; and
        1. Recognised by the Board of Architects Malaysia (LAM) Part I;
        2. Obtained an overall grade of ‘B-’ and below in the Architectural Design Studio course in the final semester of the Bachelor's degree programme;
        3. Accumulate at least twenty-four (24) months of relevant work experience after the completion of the Bachelor's degree;
        4. Pass the competency interview (interview, portfolio review, and technical drawing test);     ----- or -----    
      3. Candidates with a CGPA of 2.70 – 2.99; and
        1. Recognised by the Board of Architects Malaysia (LAM) Part I;
        2. Obtained an overall grade of ‘B’ and above in the Architectural Design Studio course in the final semester of the Bachelor's degree programme;
        3. Accumulate at least twenty-four (24) months of relevant work experience after the completion of the Bachelor's degree;
        4. Pass the competency interview (interview, portfolio review, and technical drawing test);     ----- or -----    
      4. Candidates with a CGPA of 2.70 – 2.99; and
        1. Recognised by the Board of Architects Malaysia (LAM) Part I;
        2. Obtained an overall grade of ‘B-’ and above in the Architectural Design Studio course in the final semester of the Bachelor's degree programme;
        3. Accumulate at least thirty-six (36) months of relevant work experience after the completion of the Bachelor's degree;
        4. Pass the competency interview (interview, portfolio review, and technical drawing test);      


    OR


    • Graduates from other universities and international studentswith a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and a CGPA of 3.00 and above may be considered for admission if they meet the following criteria:
      1. Recognised by the Board of Architects Malaysia (LAM) Part I;
      2. Obtained an overall grade of ‘B’ and above in the Architectural Design Studio course in the final semester of the Bachelor's degree programme;
      3. Accumulate at least twelve (12) months of relevant work experience after the completion of the Bachelor's degree;
      4. Pass the competency interview (interview, portfolio review, and technical drawing test);

    1. Recognised by the Board of Architects Malaysia (LAM) Part I;
    2. Obtained an overall grade of ‘B-’ and above in the Architectural Design Studio course in the final semester of the Bachelor's degree programme;
    3. Accumulate at least thirty-six (36) months of relevant work experience after the completion of the Bachelor's degree;
    4. Pass the competency interview (interview, portfolio review, and technical drawing test);


Note: Graduates from other universities and international applicants with a CGPA below 3.00 are not eligible to apply for admission to the Master of Architecture programme.
