Programme Overview

PhD program is a multidisciplinary doctorate degree for candidates who wish to carry out broader horizons in their research areas. Entry Requirement

General Entry Requirements
  • Possess a Master's Degree By Research; OR;
  • Possess a Clinical Master's Degree; OR;
  • Possess a Master's Degree by Coursework or Mixed Mode with a CGPA of no less than 3.00; OR;
  • Possess a Master's Degree by Coursework or Mixed Mode with a CGPA 2.50 to 2.99 subject to fulfilling at least one (1) of the following criteria:


    • At least one (1) year working ; or
    • Publication in a related field; or
    • A Scholarship holder; or
    • UM Graduate; or
    • A government servant; or
    • Pass an interview by Faculty; or
    • Pass a Special Assessment by Faculty
  • Possess a Bachelor's Degree through the Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning for Access (APEL.A) and other qualifications approved by the Senate

    • For applications to the Doctoral program via Research through prior publications or retrospective submission, the requirements are as follows:
      • Applicants must meet the admission requirements set by the University for Doctoral programs and MUST have Publications that contribute to Scholarship in the relevant field.
      • The requirements for additional admission are as follows:
        1. The University Lecturer at the time of the application for the admission as an applicant must have at least three (3) years of service as a lecturer and be active in university service; or
        2. The applicant must have publication that contribute to the scholarship of knowledge in the relevant field and have been recognized among academics or others in their area of expertise, and be endorsed by the Application Evaluation Committee.
      • Candidates must NOT possess any Doctoral degree qualification by research from the University or other universities.
