Programme Overview
The Doctor of Philosophy programme by research is a programme that consists of one hundred percent (100%) research leading to the submission of a thesis.

University Professor, Research Scientist, Principal Investigator, Research Director, Policy Advisor, Academic Consultant.
Possess a Master's Degree by Coursework on Mixed Mode with a CGPA of no less 3.00; OR
Possess a Master's Degree by Coursework or Mixed Mode with a CGPA of 2.50 to 2.99, subject to fulfilling at least one (1) of the following criteria:
At least one (1) year working experience in a related field; or
Publication in a related field; or
A scholarship holder; or
UM graduate; or
A Government servant; or
Pass an interview by Faculty; or
Pass a Special Assessment by Faculty.
Possess a Bachelor's Degree through the Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning for Access (APEL.A) and other qualifications approved by the Senate.

Special Requirements:
For applications to the Doctoral program via Research through previous publications or retrospective submission, the requirements are as follows:
(a). Applicants must meet the admission requirements set by the University for Doctoral programs and MUST have publications that contribute to scholarship in the relevant field.
(b). The requirements for additional admission are as follows:
The university lecturer at the time of the application for admission as an applicant must have at least three (3) years of service as a lecturer and be active in university service; OR
The applicant must have publications that contribute to the scholarship of knowledge in the relevant field and have been recognized among academics or others in their area of expertise, and be endorsed by the Application Evaluation Committee.
(c) Candidates must NOT possess any Doctoral degree qualification by research from the University or other universities.
