The Doctorate’s Degree program is a three-year full-time program comprising of coursework and research, with a total of 160 credits. There are 96 credits of coursework, including both taught courses and residency (60%), and 64 credits of research (40%). This coursework will be taught in Semesters 1 and 2 of Year 1 (35 credits), and residency will be conducted in Semesters 5 and 6 of Year 3 (61 credits). The research component (64 credits) will begin in Semester I (and continue through Semester 4 (Year 1 & 2) of the program.

Possess a Master’s Degree in Community Oral Health from Universiti Malaya (UM) with a minimum CGPA of 3.00; or other equivalent qualifications; OR
Possess a Master’s Degree in Dental Public Health other than the Master’s in Community Oral Health from Universiti Malaya (UM); AND
Possess a Bachelor's Degree in Dental Surgery (BDS) or other equivalent qualifications.

Applicants must meet the admission requirement set by the University for the Doctoral program an MUST have publications that contribute to scholarly knowledge in the relevant in the relevant field.
Have at least two (2) years of clinical experience after being awarded a bachelor's degree and not including Masters training.
Registered with the Malaysian Dental Council (MDC) and hold a current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) or registered with a dental regulatory body of another country and eligible to be granted a Temporary Practicing Certificate (TPC) by the MDC..
