DOCTOR IN PERIODONTOLOGY



Programme Overview

The Doctor in Periodontology (DrPerio) is a 3-year full time program that offers specialty training in the field of periodontology. This program is a new standard specialist training as agreed by the Joint Technical Committee for Evaluation for Dental Specialty Program (JTCEDSP) and the Malaysian Qualifying Agency (MQA). The program has been carefully arranged and structured, for a specified duration of time and volume of learning by coursework, to prepare the candidates with adequate clinical knowledge and skills in the field of periodontology.


This program will train local and foreign general dental practitioners to become periodontists who are competent and able to function as dental specialists. This vision can be achieved through research, innovation, publication and teaching of international standard. The program will also advance knowledge, teaching and learning in periodontology through quality research and education for the nation and for humanity.


Full-Time Duration: 6 Semesters (Clinical)

  • Possess a Master's Degree in Oral Science form UM and other equivalent qualifications in related fields; AND;
  • Possess an accredited and recognized Bachelor of Dental Surgery Degree or equivalent Degree.

    • Registered with the Malaysian Dental Council (MDC) and maintain an Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) for national candidates.
    • Proof of registration with the Dental Regulatory Body from another country for international candidates.
